Miss Miller’s 4th Grade class has been learning about Character with Mrs. Goemaat during Wednesday Morning Meeting time. They are using the Kindness 101 Videos with Steve Hartman. Students watched the Caring video about Ruby Gypsy and learned that she is a young lady who enjoys visiting the Assisted Living place where her mom works. During her visits she would ask the residents three things they would like to have. Through her “Three Wishes for Ruby’s Residents” program she learned they would like fresh fruits and vegetables, Vienna Sausages and other items. She was able to raise money through a Go Fund Me page and then began her work of fulfilling their wishes.
The 4th grade students decided to spread kindness by visiting residents at Homestead Assisted Living Facility in Knoxville on Friday, February 14th. The students and residents played kickball together and spent time answering questions to get to know each other. Before leaving, students passed out valentine cards they made. After returning from their trip and reflecting on the experience, the students had many positive things to say. Paula said, “I felt good making their day and giving them a card to make them smile.” The smiles were hard to miss as Lilian also commented, “I felt very happy that I helped put all those smiles on their faces.” Jaxson summarized his feelings: “The trip was fun. I loved it!” For the month of February, all elementary students have been focusing on demonstrating acts of kindness.

🏀🔥 NEW SCHOOL RECORD! 🔥🏀

The elementary school was excited to send Slater off to State Wrestling!! Slater shared the importance of work ethic, commitment, and dedication. When the students asked what keeps Slater going even when it's hard, he shared "If you want something bad enough, you have to work for it." What a GREAT role model for the younger students!
