On Wednesday, October 27, 7th-12th grade students participated in Wellness Wednesday. The focus this quarter was social wellness. Social wellness can be promoted by volunteering in the community and by engaging with others in hobby activities. Students had several volunteer opportunities including Homestead Assisted Living, The Well, Helping Hands, and Marion County Humane Society. Several students built benches for the playground. Due to cold and damp conditions, the students were unable to rake leaves for the elderly in Bussey and Tracy or paint the TC emblem in drive-ways. Instead, students read books to the elementary students. Several hobby activities were also scheduled for the day: bowling, canvas painting, baking, fishing and disc golf. Due to rain, fishing and disc golf were eliminated in favor of laser tag with the National Guard in the high school gym. Officer Scott of the Marion County Sheriff’s department started off the day with a presentation on bullying and cyberbullying. After the presentation, each student participated in one volunteer activity and one hobby activity.
