Dear Twin Cedars Families, This afternoon our school district learned of an anonymous, nationwide threat against schools that is being shared on social media outlets such as TikTok. The general threat toward all U.S. schools declares Friday, Dec. 17, as “American School Shooting Day.” The posts warn about the possibility of nationwide shootings or bomb threats associated with this day. There have been no threats made toward central Iowa schools or the Twin Cedars School District. However, we have partnered with local law enforcement to investigate whether there are any local connections to these social media posts. Out of an abundance of caution, our schools will be in close contact with law enforcement throughout the day on Friday. Please take this opportunity to talk with your children about the appropriate use of social media, and the seriousness and resulting consequences of making any kind of threat. As always, encourage your child to speak up if they see or hear something. “See something; say something,” is the rule. They should inform school officials or law enforcement so immediate action can be taken. Student safety is our top concern, and we appreciate the support and partnership of our families. Sincerely, Scott Bridges Superintendent Twin Cedars CSD

Twin Cedars will dismiss at noon on Wednesday due to a severe weather event. There is a risk of rollover for high profile vehicles, such as buses, due to high winds with gusts 55-70 mph and possibly higher. Buses will be off the road before the winds arrive. There is also a high potential for power outages and wind damage. All PM activities are cancelled. Stay safe.
